In Kyrgyzstan, the development of five new coal fields began in 2025

Important steps in the field of subsoil use were announced at a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh by the Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev. He reported that starting from 2025, five new coal fields have come under the management of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzkomur": Markay, Torugart, Suluktu-11, Beshburkhan, and Kozho-Kelen.

Currently, "Kyrgyzkomur" holds 22 licenses, of which 15 grant the right to full coal extraction, while 7 are for conducting geological exploration. Last year, the company exceeded its planned production targets: overburden works amounted to 120.6% of the plan, and the actual volume of coal extracted during this period reached 116% of the planned volume.

The total volume of coal extracted from the new sites amounted to 1 million 373 thousand 900 tons. These resources ensured the stability of the country's energy security. In particular, 617 thousand tons of coal were supplied to the capital's thermal power plant, and more than 429 thousand tons were directed to the needs of budgetary institutions and social facilities. A reserve of fuel amounting to 327.4 thousand tons was also stored in specialized warehouses.
