In 2025, five new coal deposits were opened in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of industrial policy, transport, and the energy complex.
Among the new coal deposits, the minister highlighted: Suluktu 11, Kozho Kelen, Beshburkhan, Markai, and Torugart, which are managed by the Open Joint Stock Company "Kyrgyzkomur".
"By the end of 2025, the company was conducting mining operations under nine licenses. Currently, 'Kyrgyzkomur' has 22 licenses, of which 15 are for coal extraction and 7 for exploration. A total of 1 million 373 thousand 900 tons of coal were extracted from the new deposits, and stripping operations were completed at a level of 120.6%, exceeding the planned 116% for extraction," he added.
