Renewable Energy is Developing in Kyrgyzstan: 650 MW of Solar and Wind Projects Underway

At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on industrial policy, transport, fuel and energy complex, architecture, and construction, Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev presented information on the progress of renewable energy projects in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the minister, 13 investment agreements have currently been signed for the construction of wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of 650 MW, and several major initiatives are in the active development stage.

He also added that a 100 MW power plant is expected to be commissioned in the Kemin district of the Chui region by December 24, 2025. A Vietnamese company has begun construction of a solar station with a capacity of 1900 MW on an area of 2116 hectares. In addition, the company "Unigrin" plans to commission an additional 300 MW in 2026, and a 100 MW wind station from "Rosatom" is also being prepared for launch," noted Ibraev.

The minister emphasized that all these renewable energy projects play an important role in diversifying the country's energy sector, increasing energy efficiency, and promoting environmentally friendly electricity production in Kyrgyzstan.
