The Ministry of Energy presented a plan for the development of hydropower and thermal power plants for 2026

The Ministry of Energy presented its initiatives at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of industrial policy, transport, the fuel and energy complex, architecture, and construction.
Minister Taalaybek Ibraev outlined several key areas of work for 2026:

- preparation of an intergovernmental agreement on the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 project;
- signing of a construction plan for the upper spillway for Kambar-Ata HPP-2;
- completion of the modernization of two hydro units at the Uch-Kurgan HPP;
- development and completion of the feasibility study for the Kazarman and Suusamyr-Kokomerensky HPPs;
- completion of internal procedures for the Kemin-Balykchy 500 kV power line project, determination of the contractor, and commencement of design work;
- signing of an investment agreement for the Kara-Kechin thermal power plant and development of the feasibility study;
- planning the implementation of the Upper Naryn cascade of hydropower plants project;
- attracting investments for the Chaldovar HPP.
