The Housing Committee approved the bill "On Geodesy, Cartography, and Spatial Data" in the second reading.
Deputy Director of the State Agency for Land Resources, Cadastre, Geodesy, and Cartography under the Cabinet of Ministers, Jakshylyk Toktosunov, presented information on this project.
According to Toktosunov, the main goal of developing the draft law is to improve the legislative framework for geodetic and cartographic activities within the Program for the Creation and Development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.
In the new version of the law, outdated provisions are replaced, terms such as "spatial data," "geodetic basis," "navigation systems" are clarified, and requirements for the creation, updating, and use of geodetic and cartographic materials are established. The draft law also regulates activities in the field of GLONASS/GPS and other systems and defines the procedure for accessing state geodetic data.
The main focus of the draft law is the digitalization of geodesy and cartography, the creation of a unified spatial data base, simplification of procedures for businesses and government agencies, as well as compliance with international standards, including the requirements of the EAEU and the UN regarding spatial data infrastructure.
