According to National Statistics, there are also 23,751 donkeys, 11,290 rabbits, and 217 camels in the country.
Regional distribution and growth trends
The largest number of poultry is concentrated in the Chui region, which accounts for about 40% of the total population. The next highest numbers are in the Jalal-Abad and Osh regions.
As for cattle, the highest numbers are found in the Osh (22%), Jalal-Abad (21%), and Chui (17%) regions. The most significant increase in cattle population was noted in the Batken region, with a growth of 2.6%.
In terms of sheep and goats, the leaders are the Jalal-Abad (22.5%), Naryn (17.7%), and Osh (17.3%) regions. In the Chui region, the number of these animals increased by 4.6%, while in Naryn, there was a decrease of 0.8%.
The Naryn region is also a leader in horse breeding, accounting for 26.3% of the total population, and yaks — 47.1%.
Animal husbandry on remote sites
A significant portion of agricultural animals is kept on remote sites, such as pastures and wintering grounds: 57% of all pigs, 45% of poultry, and approximately 18% of horses are located on such sites.
