The authorities of Kyrgyzstan reported what became most expensive in January

In January 2023, there was a 0.8% increase in consumer prices and tariffs in Kyrgyzstan compared to December 2022. This was reported by Nazira Kerimalieva, the First Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee, at a press conference in Bishkek.

According to her, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 0.8%. Non-food goods became 0.5% more expensive, and tariffs for services to the population increased by 0.7%.

The largest price increases in January were observed for fresh vegetables (4.9%), potatoes (3.4%), sausages and canned meat (2.5%), as well as dairy products, cheese, and eggs (an increase of 2.1%, with bulk milk rising by 2.6%). Lamb (1.5%), beef (0.9%), and fish (0.5%) also became more expensive.

Price increases were recorded in all regions of the country. The largest increase, amounting to 1.3%, occurred in the Batken region, driven by a 2.6% rise in tariffs for services to the population. In Bishkek, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.4%, while in the Jalal-Abad region, non-food goods rose by 1.2%.
