At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on February 11, 2026, Deputy Janar Akayev raised the issue of the growing problem of pasture degradation in the country. He inquired about the measures the government plans to take to preserve these lands.

In response to this inquiry, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev stated that there are 9 million hectares of pastures in Kyrgyzstan, but only 5 million of them can be considered effective.
Bakyt Torobaev also noted that there are about 2 million heads of cattle and approximately 6 million heads of small livestock in the country. "Such a number of livestock creates a serious burden on the pastures," he emphasized.

The minister added that the state budget receives only 252 million soms from the use of pastures annually, which is a very small amount. These funds are usually directed to local authorities, but are not always used for improving the condition of the pastures.
To change this situation, the government is considering the possibility of creating a state enterprise "Kyrgyz Zhayit," which will focus on uniting all pastures and monitoring their condition.

In addition to this, during the meeting, information was presented by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry regarding preparations for spring field and economic activities in 2026 in the Kyrgyz Republic.
