Kyrgyzstan Plans to Extend Six-Month Ban on Livestock Exports

The draft resolution on the temporary ban on the export of agricultural animals has been submitted for public discussion by the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan. The document proposes to introduce restrictions on the export of cattle, sheep, goats, and horses for a period of six months.

The main goal of the ban is to ensure food security and stabilize prices for meat products and other livestock goods. The draft states that the proposed measures comply with the norms of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Constitutional Law on the Cabinet of Ministers.

However, the restrictions will not apply to:


The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has been instructed to notify the Committee on Safeguard Measures of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) must inform the Executive Committee of the CIS.

It will also be proposed to cancel the previous similar ban that was in effect since August 2025.

The resolution will come into force upon its official publication.
