Kyrgyzstan has achieved significant progress within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), as reported by Elimbek Kanybek uulu, head of the EAEU coordination department at the Ministry of Economy of the country, at a press conference at the "Kabar" agency. At the initiative of Kyrgyzstan, tariff benefits have been introduced for a number of key goods, allowing for duty-free import of products.
One of the most notable decisions was the exemption from duties on the import of frozen beef (bone-in). By the end of 2026, the republic will be able to import 5000 tons of this meat without paying taxes. Previously, a rate of 15% of the value applied, but it has now been eliminated. Additionally, a similar decision has been made for raw sugar: by the end of 2026, 20,000 tons can be imported duty-free, which will help stabilize sugar prices in the domestic market.
The benefits also extend to the manufacturing sector. Over the next three years, Kyrgyzstan will be able to import 300 tons of cocoa butter annually at zero duty, which will support the development of the confectionery industry. Duties on special means for processing textiles and leather, necessary for local producers, have also been eliminated for three years. In the field of air transportation, the EEC Council has allowed Kyrgyzstan to import two passenger turboprop aircraft duty-free, aimed at renewing the fleet and developing regional flights, ensuring more affordable travel within the country and to neighboring states.
