Ministry of Labor of the Kyrgyz Republic: Employers are obliged to pay penalties for delayed wages

The agency clarified the financial obligations of employers

The Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of Kyrgyzstan announced the introduction of new measures of responsibility for employers under the updated Labor Code.

According to the new regulations, a fixed rate of financial liability for delayed wages is introduced. Specifically, for each day of delay in the payment of wages, vacation pay, or severance pay, employers will have to pay a penalty of 0.25% of the amount owed.

In addition, a new statute of limitations has been established: employees can now go to court regarding unpaid wages within three years from the date when the payments were supposed to be made.

Ministry representatives are confident that these measures will help improve discipline in the labor market and ensure reliable protection of citizens' financial interests.
