Kazakhstan offered Kyrgyzstan access to major retail chains in China

Access to the Chinese market opens new opportunities for the domestic economy

At the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, a presentation of the acceleration program organized by the National Association of Cooperatives and Other Forms of Economic Community of Kazakhstan (NACOFEC) took place.

As reported by the Chamber of Commerce, the Kazakh organization, which focuses on the development of export corridors, presented its services in Bishkek for the first time. It offered Kyrgyz entrepreneurs direct access to one of the largest retail chains in China — China Co-op.

Participants of the event included representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Center for Development and Promotion of Exports "Kyrgyz Export" under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, as well as entrepreneurs from the agribusiness sector and export-oriented companies of the republic.

The main outcome of the meeting was the announcement of the implementation of mechanisms in Kyrgyzstan that have already proven effective within the framework of the strategic partnership between NACOFEC and the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC). Now producers of organic products from Kyrgyzstan will be able to place their goods on specialized shelves of the network, which covers 341,000 retail outlets across China.

Avazbek Kerimbaev, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that entering the Chinese market opens new horizons for the country's economy.

“The whole world is striving to enter the Chinese market, and Kyrgyzstan has every chance to find its niche. Our Kazakh colleagues, who have vast experience in exporting to China, are ready to share their knowledge and assist in creating laboratories in the Kyrgyz Republic. Establishing supplies to China will be a powerful stimulus for the growth of Kyrgyzstan's economy,” he noted.

Kazybek Shaikh, President of NACOFEC, highlighted the importance of regional integration.

“We have brought to Kyrgyzstan a proven export technology. The Kazakh experience shows that uniting small and medium producers into sustainable export chains is the only way to succeed in a large market like China. The products of Kyrgyzstan are unique due to their eco-friendliness, and our task is to ensure a 'green corridor' for them from certification to the shelves of China Co-op. This is the first, but decisive step towards creating a unified organic brand for Central Asia,” Shaikh stated.

Participants of the meeting are convinced that applying proven Kazakh methodologies will help Kyrgyz entrepreneurs reduce the time to enter the Chinese market and avoid common mistakes at the export stage.

At the end of the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed aimed at promoting Kyrgyz producers in international markets, as well as developing cooperative, production, sales, and financial infrastructure in the country.
