Another meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council took place in Moscow, attended by Daniyar Amangeldiev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. As a result of the meeting, a number of decisions were made aimed at strengthening the economic and food security of the Union member states. One of the key decisions was to grant Kyrgyzstan a tariff exemption on the import of raw cane sugar. In 2026, the republic will be exempt from paying import customs duties on an amount of 20,000 tons, which will significantly support local processing enterprises and help stabilize sugar prices in the domestic market.
Important initiatives in the transportation sector were also discussed at the meeting. Based on a proposal from the Kyrgyz delegation, a decision was made to extend customs preferences for the import of turboprop civil aircraft until the end of 2028. This will allow for the renewal of the aviation fleet in the country. Additionally, the participants agreed to launch a financial support mechanism for joint projects in the agro-industrial complex, which will enable cooperative projects in agriculture to receive preferential financing from the EAEU budget.
Furthermore, new rules for quarantine phytosanitary control were approved at the meeting, which will help create more transparent conditions for fair business practices and enhance safety in the Union markets. The food industry also received support: until April 30, 2027, duty-free import of raw materials for confectionery production, including cocoa paste and cocoa butter, will be introduced within the EAEU. These measures are aimed at reducing costs for producers and promoting sustainable development in key sectors of the republic's economy.
