The company "Rikha" underwent halal certification with a non-accredited body - the Center for the Development of the Halal Industry
“This certification body has currently ceased its operations. The results of subsequent laboratory tests of products from OsOO ‘Rikha,’ conducted by accredited laboratories, did not detect pork DNA in the samples,” the statement notes.
Additionally, the agency reported that approaches to certification in the halal industry are currently being reviewed. Changes are being made to the Code of Offenses related to combating fraudulent entrepreneurship and consumer deception in the field of halal certification.
Work is also underway to digitize halal certificates, and the relevant state authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic intend to continue this initiative, commented the Center for the Development of the Halal Industry.
In 2024, a new Law "On the Halal Industry" was adopted in the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to this law, products labeled "Halal," "Muslim," "Adal," and similar must have a certificate of conformity issued by an accredited body, as stated in the message.
To date, there is only one accredited body in the Kyrgyz Republic — the Bishkek Center for Certification, Testing, and Metrology, which is part of the Center for Standardization and Metrology under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
“Producers of halal products should be aware that some private non-accredited certification bodies continue to operate in the market of the Kyrgyz Republic. Certificates issued by them have no legal force according to the Law "On the Halal Industry" and are invalid,” comments the Center for the Development of the Halal Industry.
In this regard, the agency recommends contacting only accredited bodies for obtaining halal certificates.
