Illegal fishing gear seized at Issyk-Kul

- On January 16, 2026, in the waters of Lake Issyk-Kul, employees of the Issyk-Kul Regional Department of the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service, acting as part of a raid, discovered and confiscated prohibited fishing gear. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

During the inspection, an old synthetic net of Chinese manufacture, 400 meters long, was found, which was being used illegally. This net could cause significant harm to the ecosystem and fish resources of the lake.

As noted in the official statement, the main objective of the conducted raid is to combat illegal fishing, protect aquatic biological resources, and ensure ecological safety in Issyk-Kul.
