Three armed men attacked the Israeli consulate in Istanbul

As a result of the attack, three individuals in camouflage, armed with long-barreled weapons, opened fire on the consulate building located in the Beşiktaş district. Since the consulate had not been operational for the past two years and was not receiving visitors, only duty police officers were present at the time of the attack. During the shootout, one of the attackers was killed, and two others were injured. It has been reported that two police officers were among the injured.

Akın Gürlek, Turkey's Minister of Justice, confirmed the information about the attack but did not go into details. He noted that investigators had already arrived at the scene, as reported by the Haberturk newspaper. The investigation is being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül also clarified that as a result of the shooting, no civilians or diplomats were injured. He added that the consulate had not been functioning for more than two years.

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiğitçi stated that the identities of the attackers have been established. They arrived in Istanbul from Izmit in a rented car. According to him, one of them is linked to a group that uses religion for its purposes, and the other two are brothers, one of whom had a criminal record for drug offenses.
