
During the visit, high-level negotiations are planned, as well as the first meeting of the Supreme Intergovernmental Council, which will be held under the chairmanship of the leaders of the two countries.
The main topics of discussion will be strengthening friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as developing strategic partnership and allied ties.
The agenda includes issues related to expanding political dialogue, cooperation in trade, economic and interregional spheres, developing industrial cooperation, transport connectivity, as well as ensuring water-energy security and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
As a result of the visit, the launch of new joint initiatives and the signing of a number of bilateral documents aimed at deepening cooperation between the two states are expected.
Previously, Rahmon visited Uzbekistan to participate in the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which took place on November 15-16, 2025. Before that, the heads of state regularly met within the framework of various summits and events.
The last state visit of the Tajik president to Tashkent took place on March 9-10, 2018, and was the first visit of the leader of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan in 17 years.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited Tajikistan on a state visit on April 18-19, 2024.
