According to official information, the price of A-95 gasoline will be 28.88 lei per liter, which is an increase of 0.41 lei or 41 bani compared to the previous day. The standard diesel fuel will rise to 29.81 lei per liter (+0.60 lei or +60 bani).
Diesel is confidently moving towards the psychological mark of 30 lei ($1.7) per liter, having increased by more than 1 lei in recent days. Gasoline is also becoming more expensive, but at a slower rate.
The main factors behind this increase are the ongoing rise in global oil prices amid geopolitical instability in the Persian Gulf region and the overall increase in oil product prices according to Platts.
Authorities emphasize that the mechanism of state regulation continues to operate: prices are linked to real stock market quotes and cannot rise uncontrollably. However, if global oil prices continue to rise, retail prices in Moldova may soon exceed 30 lei.
The Ministry of Energy, together with ANRE, strongly recommends that drivers plan their trips wisely and avoid creating a surge in demand at gas stations. The country has sufficient fuel reserves, and there is no shortage.
If the current trend continues, diesel may exceed 30 lei per liter for the first time since 2022 as early as next week.
