On Friday, the Bank of Mongolia confirmed that the base key rate will remain at 12 percent.
According to the central bank, the inflation rate in the country at the end of February was 6.5 percent, which brings it closer to the target range, largely due to the monetary policy actions implemented last year.
“Although current and expected domestic economic conditions show positive changes, we have decided to keep the interest rate at 12 percent in light of rising geopolitical tensions and uncertainty in the external environment,” the statement said.
The interest rate was raised by 2 percentage points to 12 percent in March 2025 and has remained at this level since then.
