The State Duma of Russia has tightened the rules for the stay of migrant children and patent holders

At the meeting held on March 18, State Duma deputies adopted two bills in the first reading aimed at regulating labor migration.

According to the new regulations, migrant children who reach the age of 18 will be required to leave the country within 30 days or obtain their own patent.

Additionally, labor migrants will be required to pay a tax in the form of a fixed advance payment not only for themselves, as is currently the case, but also for all their dependent family members residing in Russia.

A patent or work permit will also be revoked if the migrant fails to provide information about their income or if their income is found to be below the established level, calculated taking into account the regional coefficient of the minimum subsistence level.

Furthermore, it is proposed to tighten the requirements for foreigners obtaining temporary residence permits or residence permits. If they have worked for less than ten months during the year, they may be denied the issuance or renewal of these documents.

During the meeting, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin noted that "in addition to the two bills under discussion, four more are in the process of consideration."
