Media: Pakistan Strikes Kabul. Hundreds Dead
According to local authorities, one of the rocket strikes hit a large rehabilitation center for drug addicts, where hundreds of patients were present at the time of the attack. A significant part of the building was destroyed, as reported by AP News.
Zabiullah Mujahid, a representative of the Taliban movement, blamed Pakistan for the strike that resulted in numerous civilian casualties. He noted that Kabul views this as a gross violation of its sovereignty and promised retaliatory measures.
Tensions in the relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been escalating since the fall of last year, when a series of terrorist attacks occurred in the country. Islamabad accused militants from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) of organizing these attacks, stating that they use Afghan territory as a base. In Kabul, these accusations were dismissed, labeling the fight against the TTP as Pakistan's internal affair.
In the fall, both sides had already exchanged strikes and artillery shelling. At that time, with the mediation of Qatar and Turkey, they managed to reach a temporary ceasefire agreement; however, recent events have effectively nullified these arrangements.
