Nurlan Abdirov explained that representatives from electoral bodies of 15 countries will participate in monitoring the referendum, including chairpersons of commissions from Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkey. "We value our cooperation and interaction," he added.
The referendum on the new Constitution is scheduled for March 15. The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, initiated amendments that, among other things, propose a transition from a bicameral to a unicameral parliament and the establishment of a single seven-year term for the president. These changes will affect 84% of the country's fundamental law. The text of the new Constitution was published on February 12.
