A flight by Southwest Airlines, departing from Tennessee to Florida, was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Atlanta. An incident occurred on board, during which special forces detained one of the passengers, suspecting him of terrorism. It later turned out that he was a Muslim, reports TRT.
During the flight, his prayer time tracking app went off, and the sound of the adhan was heard. The crew perceived this situation as a potential security threat, after which they contacted the dispatcher and decided to make an emergency landing.
The plane and its luggage were inspected by bomb disposal experts and sniffer dogs, who found no dangerous items. Ultimately, the detained passenger was released.
