Putin stated that Russia is ready to supply oil and gas to Europe if it decides to 'reorient'

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin confirmed the country's readiness to supply oil and gas to European states, provided that a corresponding signal is received from them. He made this statement at a meeting dedicated to the current situation in the global oil and gas markets, as reported by the Kremlin.

Putin noted that if European companies express a desire to change their purchasing strategies and ensure long-term, stable conditions for cooperation, free from political influences, then Russia will be ready for dialogue. He also emphasized that the country has never refused partnership with Europe; however, Moscow now requires assurances from European countries regarding their readiness for sustainable joint work.

Additionally, the president reminded of the government's directive to analyze the feasibility of supplying Russian fuel to Europe, without waiting for the continent to close its doors to Russian resources. In response to current challenges, the government has already announced plans to redirect liquefied natural gas supplies from Europe to "friendly" countries in Asia.

Meanwhile, Russia will continue to supply oil to countries in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to Hungary and Slovakia, Putin added.

The Strait of Hormuz, through which 20-25% of global oil shipments pass, has come into focus after Iran announced its intention to block it in response to the conflict with Israel and the USA. This has led to a sharp increase in oil prices.

Against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East and rising energy prices, Putin expressed the intention to redirect gas supplies from Europe to Asia.
