Maduro Sent a Message to the People of Venezuela

In his address, Nicolás Maduro urged the people of Venezuela to maintain hope, which he believes helps to overcome difficulties. He expressed confidence that the country will cope with the current challenges. This message was one of Maduro's first public addresses to Venezuelans following his arrest in the United States, according to Reuters.

Maduro's detention occurred on January 3, and by January 5, he appeared before a federal court in New York, where he faced drug trafficking charges. He did not plead guilty.

Following his arrest, Nicolás Maduro's temporary presidential powers were transferred to Delcy Rodríguez, who was appointed as the acting head of state.
