At a closed meeting with lawmakers, Blumenthal, who is a member of the Armed Services Committee, expressed his concerns about the possible deployment of American troops in Iran. "I am more afraid than ever," he noted in a conversation with journalists, adding that he has not received clear guidance on the administration's priorities.

The senator raised questions about the goals of the proposed operation: is it about eliminating Iran's nuclear arsenal, destroying missile infrastructure, regime change, or combating terrorism? He emphasized that there are currently no clear answers to these questions.

Additionally, Blumenthal criticized the level of secrecy, stating that the U.S. administration should provide more transparent information to the public rather than limiting itself to closed briefings for lawmakers.

It is worth noting that on February 28, the U.S. and Israel began a large-scale military operation against Iran. Israeli authorities reported that the main goal of the attacks is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to destroy the Iranian military fleet and defense industry, urging citizens to overthrow the current regime.

On the night of March 1, Iran reported the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

According to media reports, strikes are being carried out not only on military targets but also on civilian infrastructure both in Iran and in neighboring countries. In response, Tehran is attacking Israeli territories and American bases in the region.
