Zandan Shatar instructed to stabilize the energy sector

On March 1, during a meeting of Prime Minister Zandan Shatar Gombojav with responsible officials, the main issues of Mongolia's energy sector and ways to resolve them aimed at achieving stability were discussed. This was reported on the official government website.

According to information from official representatives, last week, earthworks for the "CHP No. 5" project began, and drilling works are already underway. Major construction works at the site are set to start on April 1.

The meeting also discussed the status of the implementation of the construction project for the 660-MW "Bayan" power plant and the expansion of the electricity distribution network in Ulaanbaatar, as informed by representatives of professional organizations.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister instructed the responsible officials to prepare a draft resolution that will contain medium-term measures to ensure the reliable and stable operation of the energy sector. This draft is to be presented at a Cabinet meeting this month. The instruction concerned Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development Enkhbayar Jadamba, Minister of Energy Chojilsuren Battogtokh, and Minister of Finance Javkhlan Bold.
