The IDF press service stated that the Lebanese organization "Hezbollah" has entered into military conflict on the side of Iran and launched a missile strike on Israeli territory. The Israel Defense Forces began retaliatory strikes. Targets in Lebanon were attacked.
Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, head of the IDF General Staff, instructed to prepare for continuous defensive and offensive actions. "Our units were prepared for such a scenario as part of the preparations for Operation 'Roaring Lion.' Any threat to our security will have serious consequences — we will do everything possible to protect the people of Israel and our northern border," Zamir noted.
Some rockets launched from Lebanon crossed the Israeli border and fell in an uninhabited area. According to the IDF, the air raid sirens did not activate.
"Hezbollah" confirmed the launch of rockets and drones towards Israel.
The group claims that these actions are a response to the elimination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam published a warning on the X platform, condemning the missile launches from Lebanon's southern border.
He emphasized: "Regardless of who is behind this, missile attacks from southern Lebanon represent an irresponsible and dubious act, threatening Lebanon's security and giving Israel a reason to continue its aggression."
