Prime Minister of Denmark: Early parliamentary elections will be held in the country in March

According to constitutional norms, elections must be held no later than October 31, however, they will take place on March 24 — six months earlier than the established deadline.

“These elections will be crucial, as in the next four years we, Danes and Europeans, will need to rely solely on ourselves,” noted Frederiksen, emphasizing the importance of defining relations with the United States and strengthening the country's defense capabilities.

Tensions in relations between Denmark and the U.S. have increased since the beginning of Donald Trump's second presidential term, during which he proposed the idea of needing to control Greenland in the interest of national security.

According to Bloomberg, Frederiksen may secure a third term by proposing to hold elections seven months before the end of her constitutional mandate.
