As reported by MiddleAsianNews, the Ice Climbing and Freestyle World Cup is taking place in Longmont (USA) for the second consecutive year, organized by the Longmont Climbing Club (LCC).

These international competitions are held under the auspices of the UIAA — the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, which also organizes qualifying and youth tournaments around the world throughout the year.

About 100 athletes from various countries participated in the tournament, including Azerbaijan, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong (China), Ireland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Slovakia, Switzerland, and the USA. Among the distinguished guests was UIAA President Peter Muir.

More than 100 athletes from over 25 member associations competed for titles at the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup in the disciplines of "difficulty climbing" and "speed".

Athletes from Mongolia won silver and bronze medals at the World Cup held in Longmont, Colorado, USA, on February 21-22, 2026.

On the 12-meter speed climbing wall in Longmont, participants were given three attempts to climb, and the winner was the one who showed the best time. Three men achieved results of less than seven seconds. The standout was Linus Beck from Liechtenstein, who completed the distance twice in under seven seconds, with his best time being 6.24, which secured him the victory. Two Mongolian athletes took third place on the podium: Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar with a result of 6.28, who unexpectedly showed a good performance, and Kherlen Nyamdoo, who finished with a result of 6.31 after participating only in the first round.

In the third round of the 2025-2026 season, Mongolia was represented by Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar, Kherlen Nyamdoo, Saikhanjargal Otgonbayar, and Selenge Nyamdoo.

In the men's speed climbing competition, Mandakhbayar became the silver medalist, while Kherlen took bronze. Sports Master Saikhanjargal finished in 13th place. In the women's competition, Selenge finished in 4th place.

In the first three competitions of the 2025-2026 season, Mongolian athletes won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. Ahead of them is the final series of the World Cup in Canada.
