On February 21, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his decision to increase import tariffs to 15%. According to him, this decision is aimed at protecting the country's economy.

Trump noted that this decision was a consequence of an analysis of the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, which had previously deemed the imposed tariffs illegal.

“Based on a thorough, detailed, and complete review… I, as President of the United States, am raising the 10 percent global tariff… to 15 percent,” he wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

The new tariffs take effect immediately. In the coming months, the administration plans to develop and implement additional measures.

Earlier, Trump also signed an order to impose an additional 10% duty on all countries, which was set to take effect on February 24 and remain in place for 150 days.

It is important to note that on February 20, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the global tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in April 2025 were illegal, determining that the president exceeded his authority by applying the emergency law to impose such tariffs.
