Eric Dane, the renowned American actor, passed away on February 19, 2026. He had been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a rare and incurable disease also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2025.
In his final moments, Dane was surrounded by family and loved ones, including his wife and two daughters. The actor's family has requested that the public respect their privacy during this difficult time.
Eric Dane gained widespread fame for his roles in iconic television series, including:
- "Grey's Anatomy" — where he played Dr. Mark McSteamy Sloan, a character who became a fan favorite and made the actor famous;
- "Euphoria" — in this popular HBO series, he portrayed the complex character Cal Jacobs.
In April 2025, Eric Dane opened up to the public about his ALS diagnosis but continued to work actively and participate in professional projects. Despite his illness, he did not withdraw and became a well-known advocate for patients with similar conditions, raising awareness about ALS.
