The police reported that the shooter was 56-year-old Robert Dorgan, who also used the name Robert Esposito and sometimes introduced himself with a female name. The shooting occurred just as the arena was awaiting the start of the match between the Coventry and Blackstone Valley school teams. As a result of the tragedy, three people died, and three were hospitalized in serious condition.
Among the victims was the suspect's mother, as well as a relative who later died in the hospital from injuries sustained. Dorgan himself took his own life at the scene.
The reasons for the incident are currently unknown, and the police are continuing their investigation.
