According to Reuters, the preparation for a military operation is linked to a possible deterioration of the situation, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts. Thus, negotiations between representatives of the United States and Iran are scheduled for February 17 in Geneva. The American delegation will include Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, with Oman acting as a mediator.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict but noted that it is "very difficult to achieve."

Donald Trump, for his part, mentioned on February 13 the possibility of a change of power in Iran, emphasizing that this "could be the best outcome." However, he did not specify who might take on leadership positions in the country.

According to media reports, in recent months the U.S. has increased its military presence in the Middle East. Carrier strike groups with the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R. Ford have been deployed to the region. Additionally, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, another aircraft carrier - the USS George H. W. Bush - is preparing for possible deployment.
