The US Navy shot down an Iranian Shahed-139 drone as it approached the USS Abraham Lincoln, which was located in the Arabian Sea. This was confirmed by Fox News based on information from a representative of the US Central Command.
According to US military sources, the drone maneuvered towards the aircraft carrier when it was about 800 kilometers from the Iranian coast. The drone was shot down by an F-35 fighter jet, as reported by Reuters.
At the same time, six Iranian military boats approached the American oil tanker Stena Imperative in the Strait of Hormuz, demanding that it stop its engines and prepare to be towed. The British maritime security company Vanguard Tech reported this, adding that the Iranian agency Fars claims that the tanker violated Iranian territorial waters and should have obtained the necessary permits.
The US and Iran are scheduled to hold negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program on February 6. Meanwhile, the Iranian side insists on moving the meeting from Istanbul to Oman, Axios reports.
