The visit of Deputy Foreign Minister Sun Weidong to Mongolia was timed to coincide with the strategic dialogue held between the ministries of the two countries. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.
From February 10 to 12, 2026, Sun Weidong, Deputy Foreign Minister of China, visited Mongolia. During the visit, he met with Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav and
Foreign Minister Battsereg Batmunkh. An important part of the trip was participation in the Seventh Strategic Dialogue with Deputy Foreign Minister of Mongolia Amartuvshin Gombosuren. Additionally, the Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia, Shen Minjuan, attended the events.

Sun Weidong emphasized that under the leadership of the two countries' leaders, Chinese-Mongolian relations demonstrate positive dynamics, which in turn contributes to peace and development in the region.
China expresses its readiness to cooperate with Mongolia, based on important agreements reached between the leaders of both countries. This includes respecting each other's core interests and issues, deepening exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and jointly building a community with a shared future.
“The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to actively cooperate with Mongolian colleagues to support the sustainable and stable development of the comprehensive strategic partnership,” he noted.
Mongolia confirmed that the development of relations with China is a key aspect of its foreign policy. Issues concerning Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong are regarded as internal affairs of China, and Mongolia will continue to adhere to the principle of "One China".
Mongolia supports China's efforts to implement the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity and highly values the principles of friendship, sincerity, and mutual benefit in inter-state diplomacy. The Mongolian side also expressed gratitude to China for its long-standing support in the field of economic and social development.
Mongolia seeks closer cooperation with China, developing practical interaction and the "Belt and Road" initiative, setting an example in relations between neighboring states.
International and regional issues were also discussed at the meetings. The parties agreed to adhere to the UN Charter and the fundamental principles governing international relations, as well as to work towards creating a more just system of global governance.
