The military court in Russia sentenced a citizen of Uzbekistan to 20 years for preparing a terrorist act

According to the investigation materials, in January 2023, the man recorded a video in which he stated his intention to act in the interests of the terrorist organization "Islamic State," whose activities are banned in Russia.

At the direction of his leader from ISIS, the defendant agreed to choose a location for carrying out a terrorist act, conduct reconnaissance of the target, and rent a premises for creating and storing improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

On September 23, 2023, he arrived in Russia from Uzbekistan and reported his choice — Stavropol. He also took photographs and videos of several sites, which he then sent to ISIS.

Later, he was pointed to the building of the government of the Stavropol Krai as a target for the terrorist act.

In December of the same year, the man purchased the necessary components for the explosive device and hid them in a cache. However, on December 18, he was detained by security service officers.

The court took into account the severity of the committed crime and issued the harshest sentence.

Previously, another citizen of Uzbekistan was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Moscow court for a terrorist act directed against General Kirillov.
