At least ten people killed in shooting at Canadian school
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported that six victims were found in a school building, while two others were found in a nearby residential building believed to be connected to the incident. One of the injured died en route to a medical facility.
The suspected attacker was also found dead—preliminary information suggests that he took his own life. Police noted that there is no reason to believe that the shooter had accomplices, and the threat to the community has been eliminated.
During the active phase of the operation, a woman was considered as a potential shooter; she was described as having chestnut hair and wearing a dress.
Police Superintendent Ken Floyd stated at a press conference that officers discovered many injured and deceased individuals in the school during the operation. He added that the area is already under control, and investigators are working to determine all circumstances and the type of weapon used.
Regional authorities expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. British Columbia's Minister of Public Safety, Nina Krieger, noted that the government is ready to provide any necessary assistance to law enforcement.
