The announcement of the investigation's initiation appeared on February 6 in the newspaper Le Figaro, citing data from the French National Financial Prosecutor's Office. The investigation is looking into possible cases of money laundering and tax fraud.

The names of Jacques and Caroline Lang are mentioned more than 673 times in the case materials related to Epstein. One of the key points of interest for the investigation is an offshore company registered in the Virgin Islands, which Caroline Lang created in 2016 together with Epstein. According to media reports, Jacques Lang is also listed as a co-owner of this company.

Furthermore, Epstein's will, drafted two days before his death, indicated that Caroline Lang was to receive $5 million. As a result of the escalating situation, she decided to resign from her position as chair of the film producers' union and left several other positions.

Jacques Lang, who is now 86 years old, confirmed his acquaintance with Epstein but claims he had no knowledge of his criminal activities at the time of their interaction, which took place about 15 years ago through director Woody Allen.

According to reports, on February 8, Lang is expected to provide explanations at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which funds the Arab World Institute, headed by him since 2013. Despite calls for his resignation, he has refused to leave this position.
