
During observations conducted by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute for Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 16 flares occurred on the Sun on February 3, 2026. Of these, four belong to class C, 11 to class M, and one to the high class X, reports RIA Novosti.
“The total number of registered flares of class C and above amounted to 16. Four of them are class C, 11 are class M, and one flare is class X,” the message from IKI RAN specifies.
Scientists also noted that the active region on the Sun expanded by 50% in one day and set a new record for the number of strong flares (M + X) in a single day.
