According to information obtained by Meduza through various sources, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of Muammar Gaddafi, has become a victim of violent death.
Although the details of his death remain unclear, the Saudi channel "Al-Hadat" claims that the 53-year-old Gaddafi was killed in his garden, near the western Libyan city of Zintan, where he was attacked by four assailants.
According to "Al-Hadat," at the time of the incident, a confrontation was taking place in Saif Gaddafi's house between two armed groups when one of them attempted to detain him.
Abdallah Othman, a political advisor to Gaddafi, confirmed his death on Facebook but did not disclose additional details.
Saif al-Islam was the second son of Muammar Gaddafi, who ruled Libya from 1979 to 2011. Although he did not hold official positions, he was actively involved in political negotiations and addressing internal issues until his father's regime was overthrown.
After the fall of the Gaddafi regime in 2011, Saif was detained. In 2017, reports emerged of his release. He resumed political activity, intending to participate in elections in Libya in 2018 and 2021, but the elections did not take place.
In 2011, the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Saif Gaddafi's arrest, charging him with crimes against humanity. However, he was not handed over to the court.
