Trump announced the start of negotiations on Greenland
Trump, speaking with journalists, noted: “We have started negotiations. I hope this will lead to a beneficial deal for everyone. From a national security standpoint, this is very important. I am confident that we can reach an agreement.”
This statement was made during a publication on the White House YouTube channel.
Previously, Trump had repeatedly emphasized the need for U.S. control over Greenland to ensure national security. On January 22, he held a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, where they discussed a possible agreement that could increase the U.S. military presence on the island and provide preferences in the field of mineral extraction.
