The negotiations held in Miami on January 31 became an important step in the U.S. mediation efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Whitcoff noted that the Russian side, represented by special envoy Kirill Dmitriev, held "constructive and productive meetings." He published this information on the social network X.

The U.S. delegation included representatives such as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House senior advisor Josh Grünbaum.

Steve Whitcoff expressed optimism about the results of the meeting, emphasizing that Russia shows a willingness to work towards achieving peace in Ukraine. He also thanked the U.S. president for his active involvement in this process.

Earlier, the first trilateral negotiations took place in Abu Dhabi between representatives of Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky positively assessed their outcomes and reported that the delegations would meet again on February 1.

The U.S. Secretary of State added that the Washington delegation would also be present at the next negotiations on February 1; however, it is likely that Whitcoff and Kushner will not participate in this meeting.
