According to reports, the snowstorm that began on January 23 covered two-thirds of the territory of the USA over the weekend and Monday, affecting about 200 million people. According to the National Weather Service, the cold cyclone continues to impact the eastern part of the country, where temperatures continue to drop below normal levels. Meteorologists warn that this could become the longest cold snap in decades.

The snowstorm "Fern" triggered the formation of snowdrifts up to 30 cm high, which worsened the situation with frost and ice. As a result of the severe weather, power lines were damaged, leaving about 700,000 people without electricity.
