The French Parliament Approved a Ban on Social Media for Children
In France, the National Assembly has passed a law in its first reading that prohibits the use of social media for youth under 15 years old, reports Figaro.
This bill received significant support among deputies — 116 votes in favor and 23 against.
The initiative, proposed by a representative of the presidential party "Renaissance," aims to protect children's mental health and reduce the negative impact of social media. Additionally, the bill includes a ban on the use of mobile phones in high schools across the country.
Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, expressed support for this bill, noting that it aligns with scientific recommendations and the expectations of the majority of the population. If the document is approved by the Senate, it could come into effect on September 1, 2026.
