In addition, the court imposed a fine of one million rubles (about 13 thousand dollars) on Kurbanov. Three other individuals were also involved in this case, all of whom received significant prison sentences, although their fines were less severe. For instance, Robert Safaryan, a citizen of Azerbaijan, who allegedly delivered explosives to the perpetrator of the terrorist act, was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Meanwhile, two natives of Ingushetia, Batuhan Tochiev and Ramazan Padiev, who provided accommodation for Kurbanov, received 22 and 18 years in a penal colony, respectively.
According to media reports, during the trial, Kurbanov admitted his guilt and actively cooperated with the investigation, while the other defendants insisted on their innocence. For example, Tochiev and Padiev claimed that they were simply renting out an apartment, and Safaryan stated that he did not know what he had handed over to Kurbanov.
At the end of December 2024, Kurbanov was charged with several articles of the Criminal Code of Russia, including part 3 of article 205 ("Commission of a terrorist act"), part 4 of article 222.1 ("Illegal trafficking in explosive devices"), and part 3 of article 223.1 ("Illegal manufacture of explosive devices").
Igor Kirillov and his assistant, Major Ilya Polikarpov, died as a result of a scooter explosion left at the entrance on December 17, 2024. On the same day, a suspect was detained in the Balashikha urban district of the Moscow region — 29-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan Akhmadjon Alijon ugli Kurbanov (Kurbanov).
During the interrogation, Kurbanov stated that he had been recruited by Ukrainian special services, who promised him 100 thousand dollars for carrying out the terrorist act and assistance in relocating to Europe for permanent residence.
