From December 21 to 23, a meeting of the working group dedicated to the preparation of the international exercises "Gobi Wolf-2026" will take place at the Main Department of Emergency Situations (GUES). This initiative is being implemented in partnership with the U.S. Pacific Land Command. Details are reported by MiddleAsianNews.
The meeting will be chaired by Colonel Uranchimig Tsogtbayar, Deputy Head of GUES, and Major Dmitry Leontyev, Deputy Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia.
The goal of the meeting is to develop the content and program of the school, taking into account the type of natural disaster, risk factors, and regional characteristics, as well as the needs for humanitarian assistance.
Uvs aimak, located in the western part of Mongolia, is a mountainous area with many rivers and lakes, characterized by a diversity of natural landscapes: from steppes to mountain ecosystems. This creates increased risks from adverse natural phenomena such as floods and snowfalls.
Thus, the "Gobi Wolf-2026" exercises are aimed at improving interaction during natural disasters, exchanging knowledge and experience, as well as strengthening the capacity of all participants to address new challenges through practical training, which will ultimately contribute to the development of long-term cooperation.
These exercises, which will last four days, are part of the Pacific Resilience Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange program aimed at interagency coordination and humanitarian assistance on the international stage, and are coordinated by GUES together with the U.S. Army Pacific Command.
The "Gobi Wolf" initiative plays a key role in enhancing the capabilities of personnel, increasing safety during natural disasters, and strengthening partnerships and alliances.
