As a result of the accident that occurred near the city of Gelida, a passenger suburban train derailed after colliding with a collapsed retaining wall, which happened due to heavy rain, as reported by El Mundo.
This is not the only incident related to the railway in Catalonia. Approximately 130 passengers on a high-speed train were trapped in a tunnel due to technical problems with the overhead line. Additionally, 30 people from another train, which was traveling near Fornells de la Selva, were evacuated after a tree fell onto the tracks.
It is worth noting that just three days ago, a similar situation occurred on the Spanish railway — a high-speed train with 300 passengers derailed, resulting in the deaths of 40 people.
