FIFA Received a Record 500 Million Ticket Applications for the World Cup

According to information from The Athletic, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced that it received over 500 million ticket applications for the 2026 FIFA World Cup within just one month.
In this regard, FIFA will conduct a random draw to allocate tickets for all 104 matches of the tournament, the results of which will be announced in February.

It is worth noting that in the previous months, October and November, the federation already sold about 2 million tickets, and currently around 4-5 million remain available for sale.

The most popular matches turned out to be the games between Colombia and Portugal, Mexico and South Korea, the World Cup final, as well as the first match of the tournament between Mexico and South Africa, scheduled for July 2 in Toronto.

There is a possibility that ticket prices for these sought-after games will increase in February when fans receive information about the results of their applications, and those who were unable to purchase tickets will be forced to turn to resale.

FIFA will begin sending notifications about the results of the draw to fans starting from February 5 or shortly thereafter.

The World Cup will kick off on June 11 in Mexico City, and all 104 matches will take place in 16 cities across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
