The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Wednesday, January 14, approved the bills that extend martial law and general mobilization for 90 days. The initiator of these bills was the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Thus, martial law in the country will be in effect from February 3 to May 4 of this year. A total of 330 members of parliament voted in favor of the bill, while the minimum required threshold is 226 votes. Additionally, 312 deputies voted for the extension of general mobilization, which also lasts for 90 days.
Martial law in Ukraine was introduced at the beginning of the Russian military invasion in February 2022. During the same period, President Zelensky signed a decree on the general mobilization of citizens. In August 2025, the Ukrainian government allowed young people aged 18 to 22 to leave the country.
